Custom FN Commercial Mauser 98 in 9.3x62
MADE FOR AFRICA
This rifle was made for Africa hence 9.3x62 built on a Mauser 98 controlled feed action with silent, ergonomic, sliding side safety.
Mint Condition. Never hunted with.
I had this rifle made to feature in my next book so I employed a professional product photographer to take the accompanying photo.
This rifle demonstrates the skills of Australia’s finest artisans in custom rifle making.
Exhibition Grade Australian Exhibition Grade Walnut stock hand-picked by me from Roger Vardy’s vault in Porepunkah Vic.
Stock was hand crafted by legendary custom stock maker Ross Waghorn, now retired. Buffalo horn forend, steelpistol grip cap and initials plate. Pachmayr Decelerator recoilpad and inlaid sling swivel studs.
14 inch length of pull.
All Metal Work by Bob De Vries Kudu Arms, Montrose Vic.
22 inch barrel # 3 profile chrome moly barrel made and chambered by Total Solutions Engineering, Toowoomba.
Barrel fitted and bolt knob checkered by Bob De Vries.
Ergonomic, silent sliding side safety which locks the bolt handle.
Custom steel hinged floor plate engraved with initials “SMP”
Leupold all steel 30mm QRW bases and low rings. Scope returns to .5 MOA when removed and refitted.
Vixen 1-8 x25 scope Made in Japan - 30mm tube, duplex reticle with illuminated red dot. Absolute state of the art,bright robust scope that can withstand the recoil on the hardest kicking big bores.
This scope rivals anything made in Europe.
Includes 100 x 286gn soft point PPU (Serbian made) factory rounds; plus
40 rounds PPU brass hand loaded with 229gn solid copper projectiles made by OEP (Outer Edge Projectiles) from Orange NSW.
Includes Hornady Custom Grade 2 die set.
Took 2 years to build and cost in excess of $9000 including scope.
